PSA Certified Announces New PSA Certified Level 4 Certification and Continued Partner Growth

PSA Certified, the global security and evaluation framework for connected devices, has introduced its highest certification level to date. The new PSA Certified Level 4 iSE/SE certification offers enhanced protection for high-value assets in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). It aims to secure valuable AI models and safeguard systems against new attack methods and rising security threats associated with the widespread adoption of edge AI.

The certification has been launched following PSA Certified’s continued success as a trusted platform for demonstrating security best practices and providing assurance for connected devices. With more than 200 certifications from nearly 90 technology providers, PSA Certified has become one of the most successful schemes addressing connected device security.

The Level 4 Integrated Secure Enclave/Secure Element (iSE/SE) certification provides robust protection for models and data during device boot and at rest. It recognizes the use of a highly secure integrated Secure Enclave or Secure Element that acts as a trusted subsystem to the full Root of Trust. This level of certification offers a high level of attack resistance by safeguarding critical cryptographic functions and key storage.

The Level 4 iSE/SE certification also offers stronger cryptography with at least 128-bit strength and protection against advanced attack methods such as fault injection and differential power analysis. It provides a trusted subsystem that can be used in PSA Certified Level 3+SE certification, enhancing the overall security functionality of the PSA Root of Trust.

Infineon has become the first partner to undergo evaluation in the lab for the new Level 4 iSE/SE certification, demonstrating its commitment to developing IoT devices that meet the highest security standards.

PSA Certified operates in the industry of connected devices security. As more and more devices become interconnected, the need for robust security measures to protect against cyber threats becomes increasingly important. Connected devices include a wide range of products, such as smartphones, wearables, smart home devices, industrial IoT devices, and more.

The market for connected devices is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years. According to market forecasts, the global IoT market is projected to reach $1.1 trillion by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24.7% during the forecast period. This growth is fueled by advancements in technologies like AI, edge computing, and the 5G network, which enable a wide range of applications and use cases for connected devices.

However, with the increasing adoption of connected devices, there are also growing concerns about security vulnerabilities and the potential for cyberattacks. The widespread use of AI in connected devices brings new challenges for security, as AI models and data can be valuable targets for attackers. The Level 4 iSE/SE certification offered by PSA Certified addresses these concerns by providing enhanced protection for high-value assets in the era of AI.

One of the key issues related to the industry is the need for standardized security frameworks and certifications. PSA Certified has gained recognition as a trusted platform for demonstrating security best practices and providing assurance for connected devices. Its certification schemes help device manufacturers and technology providers demonstrate their commitment to security and build trust with customers.
