The event, in partnership with Sodexo and Simpli, will take place at The Maryland Innovation Lab. The Lab aims to connect corporations, governments, and global startups to accelerate business growth through an innovation process.

The selected startups, which include ORMEX, Sustained Impact, and Vaayu, were chosen from a pool of over 600 applicants. These companies will collaborate with Pompeian to revolutionize sustainability standards, carbon tracking, supply chain and distribution processes, as well as consumer behavior and experience.

The three-day innovation bootcamp will provide the teams with expert guidance and mentorship from Pompeian, L Marks, the Maryland Department of Commerce, Sodexo, Simpli, and local business executives. They will develop customized use cases and present their solutions at a pitch and showcase event on April 4th.

Pompeian will then select the most promising startups to participate in a 10-week validation program, where they will pilot their unique use cases. The program aims to support Governor Moore’s Equitech initiatives and attract more international businesses to Maryland.

Pompeian, Inc., the top-selling olive oil brand in America, operates in the food industry, specifically in the production and distribution of olive oil. As an industry leader, Pompeian is constantly looking for innovative ways to enhance sustainability standards, carbon tracking, supply chain and distribution processes, as well as consumer behavior and experience.

The industry of olive oil has been experiencing steady growth in recent years. According to market forecasts, the global olive oil market is expected to reach a value of $18.45 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 3.0% from 2020 to 2027. This growth is driven by factors such as increasing health-consciousness among consumers, the rising demand for healthy cooking oils, and the growing popularity of Mediterranean cuisine.

However, the olive oil industry also faces certain challenges. One of the key issues is ensuring sustainability throughout the supply chain. This involves promoting responsible farming practices, minimizing environmental impact, and ensuring fair working conditions for farmers and workers. Additionally, the industry needs to address consumer concerns regarding product authenticity, quality, and labeling.

To address these challenges and drive innovation in the industry, Pompeian has partnered with Sodexo and Simpli to host the Bootcamp and Pitch Day event at The Maryland Innovation Lab. This collaboration aims to connect startups with established corporations and government entities to foster business growth through an innovation process.

The selected startups, including ORMEX, Sustained Impact, and Vaayu, will work closely with Pompeian to develop solutions that enhance sustainability, streamline supply chain processes, and improve consumer experiences. The teams will receive expert guidance and mentorship from industry leaders during a three-day innovation bootcamp.

Following the bootcamp, the startups will present their solutions at a pitch and showcase event, where the most promising ones will be selected to participate in a 10-week validation program. This program will allow the startups to pilot their solutions and contribute to the Equitech initiatives of Governor Moore, aimed at attracting more international businesses to Maryland.
