Huawei recently hosted the IP GALA Summit with the theme “Bring Net5.5G into Reality, Inspire New Growth” during the MPLS SD & AI Net World Congress 2024. The summit brought together network operators, standardization organizations, and industry associations to discuss key topics such as the deployment of Net5.5G applications, scenario innovations, and target network architecture. Leading network operators like vivo Brazil, Telecom Argentina, and Algeria Telecom presented their live network applications and innovative practices of key technologies such as 400GE, SRv6, Slicing, and Network Digital Map in convergent Net5.5G transport scenarios. This indicates that the deployment of the Net5.5 convergent transport solution will be accelerated to support the new growth of network operator services.

During the opening speech, Zuo Meng, President of Huawei’s Data Communication Product Line Metro Router Domain, emphasized the need for network operators to build a Net5.5G target network to support the upgrade to 10Gbps connections for private broadband services, mobile broadband services, private enterprise lines, and enterprise campus services. The industry agrees that the introduction of Net5.5G applications needs to be accelerated to support the business success of operators.

The continuous growth of global ultrabroadband connections and bandwidth is driven by immersive applications, industrial digitization and cloudification, and AI applications. To address this growth, the WBBA, in collaboration with its members, has launched the Net5.5G initiative, which includes 10Gbps campus with Wi-Fi 7, 400Gbps converged IP transport, and hyper-converged data center networks for 2025-2030.

Leading network operators reported on their live network implementations and innovative practices of key convergent Net5.5G WAN solutions. For example, vivo has successfully implemented SRv6 in its live network in Brazil, improving the 5G service experience and maintaining its leading position. Telecom Argentina has deployed 400GE in its backbone network to support the growth of 5G and private broadband traffic. Algeria Telecom is developing its IP transport network into a next-generation network with ubiquitous access, intelligent connectivity, ultra-broadband backbone, and slicing as a service.

Huawei also introduced the target network architecture of Net5.5G convergent transport and the Private Line + X solution, which features ultrabroadband, network-as-a-service, high intelligence, and holistic security. These solutions and products in the Net5.5G series help network operators develop comprehensive services and achieve new growth.

The IP GALA Summit hosted by Huawei focused on bringing Net5.5G, a next-generation network technology, into reality. The summit convened network operators, standardization organizations, and industry associations to discuss the deployment of Net5.5G applications, scenario innovations, and target network architecture.

Some of the leading network operators like vivo Brazil, Telecom Argentina, and Algeria Telecom showcased their live network applications and innovative practices of key technologies such as 400GE, SRv6, Slicing, and Network Digital Map in convergent Net5.5G transport scenarios. This indicates that the deployment of the Net5.5G convergent transport solution will be accelerated to support the new growth of network operator services.

During the summit, Zuo Meng, President of Huawei’s Data Communication Product Line Metro Router Domain, stressed the importance of network operators building a Net5.5G target network to support the upgrade to 10Gbps connections for various services like private broadband, mobile broadband, enterprise lines, and campus services. The industry consensus is that the introduction of Net5.5G applications needs to be expedited to ensure the success of network operators’ business endeavors.

The industry is witnessing a continuous increase in ultrabroadband connections and bandwidth, driven by applications like immersive experiences, industrial digitization, cloudification, and AI. In response to this growth, the WBBA (Wireless Broadband Alliance), in collaboration with its members, has launched the Net5.5G initiative. This initiative encompasses various elements, including a 10Gbps campus with Wi-Fi 7, 400Gbps converged IP transport, and hyper-converged data center networks, targeting the period from 2025 to 2030.

Leading network operators showcased their live network implementations and innovative practices of key convergent Net5.5G WAN solutions. For instance, vivo successfully implemented SRv6 in its live network in Brazil, thereby enhancing the 5G service experience and maintaining its leading position. Telecom Argentina deployed 400GE in its backbone network to accommodate the growing 5G and private broadband traffic. Meanwhile, Algeria Telecom is working on transforming its IP transport network into a next-generation network featuring ubiquitous access, intelligent connectivity, ultra-broadband backbone, and slicing as a service.

Huawei also introduced the target network architecture of Net5.5G convergent transport and the Private Line + X solution. These solutions and products, part of the Net5.5G series, empower network operators to develop comprehensive services and achieve new growth. The Net5.5G series emphasizes ultrabroadband capabilities, network-as-a-service, high intelligence, and holistic security.
